About Lake Notoro

A lagoon-origin, brackish lake in Abashiri City, connected to the Sea of Okhotsk through its inlet, and one of the seven lagoon lakes of Abashiri Quasi-National Park. The 1991 survey recorded eelgrass, flounder, saffron cod, halfbeak, rainbow smelt and Japanese smelt, and taiga bean geese and whooper swans in winter. According to the survey's data appendix, reclaimed area had reached 0.70 km² by 1991.
