About Bankeinuma Pond
A small pond in the mountains of Minami Ward, Sapporo, at 910 m above sea level. In the 1991 survey it was an unmodified, oligotrophic (nutrient-poor) lake. Reeds grow on the shore, and tufted ducks, mallards and pochards were recorded stopping over in spring and autumn.
