About Lake Shirarutoro

One of the three freshwater lakes on the eastern edge of the Kushiro Wetland, northwest of Lake Toro. It lies within the Kushiro Wetland, Japan's first Ramsar Site, designated in 1980. The 1991 survey recorded Sakhalin taimen, white-spotted char, Japanese dace and Japanese smelt, and whooper swans and taiga bean geese in winter.
