About This Site
What is "Sapporo Underground Exits (Sapporonochika)"?
"Sapporo Underground Exits (Sapporonochika)" is a catalog-style information site dedicated to Sapporo's underground exits. We provide easy-to-understand details on the exits of Sapporo's underground passages, including Odori Station, Chikaho, Sapporo Underground Mall (Aurora Town & Pole Town), Apia, and Susukino Station.
Background
I'm "Sapporo no Chika" — I moved from Tokyo to Sapporo, Hokkaido in January 2020.
Moving from Tokyo to Sapporo, I was surprised by many things — one of them being Sapporo's underground network.
In terms of sheer size, Tokyo's Shinjuku Station still wins, but Sapporo's underground passages demonstrate an effectiveness in winter that far surpasses Shinjuku's scale.
In terms of straight-line underground distance — from Sapporo Station North Exit to Susukino Station — Sapporo ranks first in Japan.
This vast underground space forms what could be called an "all-weather city," completely eliminating the discomforts of cold weather and icy, snow-covered streets.
Although Sapporo's underground is managed by many different owners and operators — each with their own official websites — no single site had comprehensively organized all of them, at least not at the time this site was launched.
Wanting to bring order to "Sapporo's vast underground," I created "Sapporonochika" — an underground exit catalog site dedicated to Sapporo's underground spaces.
I hope this site proves useful not only to regular users of the underground, but also to travelers from outside Hokkaido and visitors from around the world.
