Sapporo Factory サッポロファクトリー
A large commercial complex that opened in April 1993 on the site of the Kaitakushi Beer Brewery — Japan's first full-scale beer brewery, established in 1876. The development preserved and repurposed as many of the century-old red brick buildings as possible, weaving historic structures — including brick warehouses from 1892 and the Sapporo Beer chimney built in 1915 — into a modern space for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
At the heart of the complex is the "Atrium" — a vast glass-enclosed space 39 meters high and 84 meters long, the largest all-weather atrium in Hokkaido. Year-round greenery and seasonal flowers fill the space with life, while a towering tree over 10 meters tall becomes the centerpiece of a beloved Christmas display. Multiple buildings are connected by covered walkways, housing approximately 160 shops and restaurants in total.
The "Renga-kan" (Brick Building) features a craft beer brewery recreating Meiji-era flavors and a photo studio, making the entire complex a place where history and the present intertwine. Conveniently located within walking distance of both Subway Bus Center-Mae Station and Odori Station.
