A lakeside attraction on the northern shore of Lake Shikotsu, best known for its restaurant run by local himemasu (kokanee salmon) fishermen — the fish beloved under the nickname "Shikotsu-ko Chippu" (Lake Shikotsu Chip). Himemasu is an integral part of the local food culture, and in prime season from June to July the fresh, richly flavored fish can be enjoyed salted grilled, fried, or as sashimi.

The facility looks out across the lake toward the majestic silhouettes of Mt. Fuppushi (1,102 m) and Mt. Tarumae (1,041 m), and the terrace seating offers a front-row view of this panorama while dining. Pedal boats and rowboats are available for rent, giving visitors a chance to experience the lake from the water. Fishing rods are also available for hire, making it easy to try lake fishing without any gear.

Lake Shikotsu sits at the heart of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, and its remarkably clear waters — known as "Shikotsu Blue" — glow a stunning cobalt on fine days. Poropinai is known among those in the know as a quiet, laid-back spot where visitors can soak in the beauty of one of Hokkaido's finest lakes at a leisurely pace. The facility operates from approximately early April to November.
