JR Tower Observatory T38 JRタワー展望室 タワー・スリーエイト
Located on the 38th floor of JR Tower, directly connected to JR Sapporo Station, this observatory offers a full 360-degree panorama of Sapporo's cityscape from approximately 160 meters above ground. The views extend to Mt. Yubari and Mt. Ashibetsu to the east, Shikotsu-Toya National Park to the west, Otaru to the north, and Mt. Moiwa, Mt. Eniwa, and Sapporo Dome to the south — a sweeping landscape where city and nature meet.
The observatory is adorned with artwork by leading Hokkaido designers, and a special acoustic arrangement inspired by "planetary scales" fills the space with a calming atmosphere. One of its most talked-about features is the so-called "view toilet" — a bathroom with a panoramic outlook that surprises and delights first-time visitors. An in-house café serves drinks by day, and wine and cocktails by night, perfect for savoring the illuminated cityscape.
The observatory is an ideal vantage point to experience Sapporo's nightscape, which has been recognized as one of Japan's New Top Three Night Views. With direct access from JR Sapporo Station, it is a highly convenient destination both for visitors just arriving in the city and those making the most of their final hours before departure.
