A roughly 380-meter-long avenue of ginkgo trees planted along both sides of a path within the Hokkaido University campus. The approximately 70 trees, planted around 1939 (Showa 14), turn a spectacular golden yellow every autumn, making this one of Sapporo's most celebrated fall foliage destinations. The peak season typically falls from late October to early November, when fallen leaves carpet the ground in a vivid yellow blanket.

During the peak season, an event called the "Hokudai Gold Leaf Festival" (Konyosai) illuminates the entire avenue at night, transforming it into a glowing golden corridor with an otherworldly beauty. Hokkaido University's campus is generally open to the public, welcoming not only students and staff but also residents and tourists to freely stroll through.

The campus is also home to the famous Poplar Avenue — visiting both in a single trip allows you to take in the full breadth of Hokkaido University's rich natural landscape and history. Its proximity to JR Sapporo Station makes it an easy and rewarding destination.
